After a great introduction to Salesforce Chatter from Marc Benioff, the crowd got a first glimpse at this new technology. Here are some things to notice from the demo:
- It may be fun, but its not for fun. While facebook and twitter are useful analogies for salesforce chatter, chatter is about employee productivity. It's a secure platform for collaboration within your enterprise
- It's not just people who can chatter. Its great to see what your colleagues are working on in realtime, but your apps and your information can also chatter. We saw opportunities chatter when the change status, for example. That's what's so revolutionary about Salesforce chatter-- it breaks down the barriers between information, apps, and people
- It's not just within Salesforce. In the demo, we saw SAP applications chattering, Oracle applications chattering, and even business collaboration applications chattering. The Social Cloud connects together all of your people and all of your enterprise applications, not just what you current run in Salesforce.
